Kyphosis and Hunch-back Posture – What You Should Know

The hunchback posture or postural kyphosis can be a very troublesome condition. Slouching can cause the spine to stay in the position. The key is to sit up straight. Rounding the shoulders can create pain, fatigue and kyphosis.

Hunchback posture is very easy to correct. It takes a little effort to learn and understand how to have good posture. Then, it’s all about making the daily effort to keep a good posture. Physical therapy can help you with this as well.

You’ll learn how to do certain exercises that help you add strength to the muscles in your back. This makes it a lot easier to have proper posture. There are several ways to have good posture:

  • Keep your lower back arched slightly. Don’t keep it too arched. If you think of rolling your pelvis inward, then the lower back portion will be in the right position.
  • The feet should be shoulder width apart. You want to make sure you distribute your weight on an even basis to prevent hunchback posture. Do not put all of your weight on one foot.
  • Keep the chin upwards. You want to look straight ahead.
  • Shoulders should be back. Think about lifting up your breast bone area. This will cause your shoulders to fall backwards in a natural way.

You are not going to be able to correct the hunchback posture overnight. It will take some effort on your part before you are going to automatically sit and stand correctly. It is well worth the effort and time you put into it.
