Back Braces for Kyphosis – What Options Are Available

There are many various types of back braces for kyphosis conditions. Some of them don’t really work, while others have been proven to work really great. It may be a challenge to find the right kind of back braces for your condition. But before we talk about braces, let’s briefly talk about what kyphosis actually is.

What Kyphosis Really Is

The medical term for the rounding of the upper back in a forward contour is known as kyphosis. This is also known as hunchback. The rounding is a lot more pronounced than what is normal. It can often be much more than forty-five degrees.

The causes of Scheuermann’s kyphosis are not known. Some characteristics of this type of kyphosis are:

However, this process can be helped with kyphosis exercises. The aim for these specific hunch back exercises is strengthen the weaker areas such as the upper back and abdominal muscles and stretch the tighter parts like across the chest and the hamstrings.  Two examples Read the rest of this entry »
